The UMKC Drug Information Center combines 
information search and retrieval skills with critical 
literature evaluation to provide health and medication- 
related information to both healthcare professionals 
and consumers in the community.

The Center also offers a variety of contractual services including Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee support, Drug Use Evaluations, treatment algorithm development, call-center services, and e-commerce content development. 

As well as contributing to the daily functioning of the Center, DIC staff members, including faculty, fellows, and residents, participate in a variety of educational and research activities.  They develop and lecture in pharmacy, nursing, and allied health  curricula on a multitude of topics and experiences.  Some of these include evidence-based medicine (EBM), pharmacology, and therapeutics.  

Additionally, the DIC serves an experiential role to
PharmD Candidates by serving as a clinical rotation site.  Students learn the skills that are necessary in the pharmacy profession such as communicating with healthcare providers, consumers, and  clients, learning to critically evaluate the medical and pharmacy literature, and developing and refining presentation skills and medical writing.
